Volvo Charging Away From Diesel
Backing up its intent to electrify all new models after 2019, Volvo has announced that it will not develop any new diesel engines and will phase them out of its lineup worldwide. The new S60 sedan, to be built exclusively in South Carolina for all world markets beginning later this year, will be the first Volvo not to offer a diesel option. Diesel engines accounted for 70% of Volvo sales last year in Europe. Volvo announced at last month’s Beijing Auto Show that they expect full-electric cars to make up 50 per cent of its global sales by 2025.
